Moderate injuries in single vehicle accident

Desmond J. Maness, 19, of DeSoto, sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 5:20 p.m. on Route P south of Hyfield Road in Jefferson County.

According to MSHP reports, the accident occurred as Maness failed to negotiate a curve to the right. The 2005 Ford Ranger he was driving traveled off the roadway, struck an embankment, returned to the road, traveled off the left side and struck a fence.

Maness was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center by Valle Ambulance. The report stated he was wearing a seatbelt.

Damage to the Ranger was listed as total and it was towed from the scene.
