Tested by Dragons, Knights pull out fourth quarter win

STE. GENEVIEVE — The Ste. Genevieve Dragons gave it a good shot to knock off the conference-leading Farmington Knights on Friday. The Dragons held a five point lead early in the fourth quarter, and was tied with the Knights with three minutes to go.

After the tie, Farmington scored first to take the lead and by making their free throws down the stretch they were able to pull out a 54-45 win to stay atop the MAAA standings. The Knights finished the game 11-14 at the free throw line.

Jordan Ankrom led the Knights in scoring with 19 points and DJ Hardy had 11. Brendan Dallas made five three-pointers to lead the Dragons with 17 points.

With the win, Farmington (8-9 and 4-0 MAAA) clinched a share of the conference title, and they will travel to Potosi on Tuesday to close out conference play. Ste. Genevieve (9-9 and 2-2 MAAA will travel to Fredericktown on Tuesday.
