R-I District plans events for incoming kindergartners, parents
The Fredericktown R-1 School District is rounding up kindergartners for next August.
The district is hosting the following events this spring for children who will be age 5 on or by July 31 and their parents.
Parent Orientation will be held at the Elementary school on Tuesday, March 12 at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. Parents are to choose only one time to attend and no RSVP is needed for this meeting. A short presentation will be given in the music room (Room 101) discussing basic enrollment information and kindergarten routines, along with other pertinent information. During the meetings, students are allowed to meet other students and engage in supervised activities. Parents and incoming kindergartners are welcome to tour the elementary building and meet the kindergarten staff. Each session is expected to last 30-45 minutes.
Kindergarten Screening will take place at St. Michael Auditorium beginning on April 29 and run through May 2. Parents are asked to call 783-3477 to schedule an appointment for their child. Important information to bring to the screening includes a copy of the student’s birth certificate, social security number, immunization record, and proof of residency. Parents will complete enrollment paperwork as the DIAL-4 (academic assessment) and health screenings are administered to students. Screening dates and times are as follows:
