Lady Cards drop two against Logan

CARTERVILLE, Ill. — Kallie Federhofer carried a shutout into the sixth inning, but the Mineral Area softball team could not capitalize Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader.

John A. Logan answered a tying run in the top of the seventh inning with a walk-off single at home, and notched a 4-3 victory after scoring three times in the sixth.

Miriah Korokis had an RBI double off the bench, and Erin Littrell added an RBI single for the Lady Cardinals, who built an early 2-0 lead.

Alina Fields brought home another run on a squeeze play and Courtney Massengale singled in the loss. Federhofer allowed five hits and five walks while striking out three.

The Lady Vols rolled to a 9-1 triumph in game two, ending the contest via run rule after tallying four in the fifth inning.

Sonya Hahn was 2-for-2 and Massengale added two hits with an RBI for Mineral Area (1-5). Haley Stevens and Littrell also singled.

Lauren Stamp allowed four earned runs on nine hits as Logan took advantage of three errors.
