Lady Cards outlasted twice by Jefferson

HILLSBORO, Mo. — Sophomore Miriah Korokis hammered her fourth home run of the spring, and the Mineral Area softball team rallied in the middle innings to pull even against Jefferson on Tuesday.

The Vikings responded with a walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh, and earned a doubleheader sweep with an 8-7 win after erupting offensively for a 15-7 triumph in the opener.

Korokis totaled four RBI while Darby Ferguson and Courtney Massengale had two hits apiece in the hard-luck second loss. Lauren Stamp lasted the duration in the circle and allowed 13 hits.

Jefferson scored five times in the first and third innings, and generated 12 hits off MAC starter Kallie Federhofer in game one.

Erin Littrell went 2-for-2 with three RBI for the Lady Cardinals, recording her third straight game with multiple hits.

Massengale and Ferguson contributed doubles and Haley Stevens scored two runs while pinch-hitter Jessy Wallace added a single.

The Vikings turned three double plays in game one.

Mineral Area (9-17) is scheduled to host East Central in an important pair of Region 16 contests on Thursday.
