Ste. Genevieve man injured in accident on 1-55

A Ste. Genevieve man was seriously injured in a single vehicle accident 11:06 a.m. Friday on southbound I-55 at the 162 mile marker in Ste. Genevieve County.

Scott J. Ringwald, 21, was taken to Barns Jewish by Air Evac. A passenger in the vehicle, Abbey L. Gray, 20, of Bloomsdale sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Jefferson by ambulance.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the vehicle, a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix, traveled off the left side of the road and across the median before striking a bluff.

Troopers reported Ringwald was not wearing a seatbelt. Damage to the vehicle was total.
