Trojans escape cellar with first conference win

POTOSI — The Potosi Trojans held a 7-0 lead going into the fourth inning when the  Fredericktown Blackcats’ made a two-run challenge, but the Trojans put the game out o reach in their half of the inning by scoring eight runs for a 15-2 final score.

Lane Mercille pitched all five innings for the Trojans, striking out four and giving up four hits.

Devin Hammock was 3-3 at the plate with a double to drive in three runs. Mercille went 2-4 with a pair of doubles. Jake Coleman and Jacob Reed were both 2-3, and Dakota Glore was 2-4 with a triple. The Trojans (9-5) will play at Windsor this afternoon.
