St. Pius sends Blackcats to sixth straight loss
FESTUS — Brady Brewen gave Fredericktown a 1-0 lead Friday with an RBI triple in the first inning.
Blackcats sophomore Tyler Reed nearly escaped the home half tied during his first varsity start, but a 2-out error gave momentum to host St. Pius.
The Lancers tacked on four unearned runs before taking the field again, and rolled to an 11-4 victory as Taylor Wood limited Fredericktown to four hits.
Ty Burks, Jeremy Gremminger and Jake Korokis all singled as the Blackcats (4-14) suffered their sixth consecutive loss.
Fredericktown will open pool play in the MAAA Tournament with two games at Potosi on Monday, facing top seed Valle Catholic and West County.
