Donald E. Hurtgen
DESLOGE — Donald Edward Hurtgen, 71, of Desloge, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Country Meadows. He was born November 5, 1941, in DeSoto, and later served his Country in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. Donald retired from Doe Run Company after 23 years. Locally he served 30 years with the Fire Department, mostly in Bonne Terre. Donald also drove the Church van for the 1st Baptist Church of Bonne Terre and for the Highland Baptist Church in Hillsboro. He was loved by all of those that rode the van and was known as Papa Don.
Mr. Hurtgen was preceded in death by his parents; Herbert Edward and Edna Wall Hurtgen.
Donald is survived by wife, Darlene White Hurtgen; Children, Donald Edward Hurtgen Jr. of Dittmer, Pamela Hurtgen of Festus, and Debbie Redwine of Festus. Eight Grandchildren, Three Great-Grandchildren, and several Special Nieces and Nephews. Also surviving are a sister, Lucille Hurtgen of DeSoto and three brothers, Harold Hurtgen and wife Barb of Hematite; Jerry Hurtgen and wife Linda of Hillsboro; Richard Hurtgen and wife Janet of Chillicothe.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Tuesday, April 30, from 5 to 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at the Highland Baptist Church 9 a.m. Wednesday May 1, 2013. The service will be at the Highland Baptist Church in Hillsboro on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Bro. Keith Perren officiating. Interment will follow at Charter Cemetery.
