St. Paul holds auction this weekend

The St. Paul Lutheran School live and silent auction is happening this weekend at the school’s gym.

“This year the auction committee received a donation for an African Safari Hunt and a bar set up for a man cave, along with the trips to Las Vegas, Florida and Branson,” said Committee Chair Stacy Dickinson.

They also have a loft bed in one of the class baskets this year and class quilts.

Dickinson said individual tickets are still available but group tickets are sold out. Tickets for the auction are $50. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the silent auction and dinner at 7 p.m. Immediately following dinner is the live auction.

St. Paul Lutheran alum Brad Detring will be the auctioneer again this year and Avenue Events is once again catering the event.

Dickinson said the classes are again doing their themed baskets this year and will be displayed in the commons area.

“The displays in the commons area worked really well last year,” Dickinson said.

In years past, the special drawing has been a successful part of the auction, allowing participation from those unable to attend. The drawing is sponsored by St. Paul Lutheran School Auction Committee and Krekeler Jewelers.

• First Place Prize is $2,000 Cash and $2,500 Krekeler Jewelers Shopping Spree.

• Second Place Prize is $1,000 Cash and $1,500 Krekeler Jewelers Shopping Spree.

• Third Place Prize is $500 Cash and $1,000 Krekeler Jewelers Shopping Spree.

The tickets are $25 each and the ticket holder does not have to be present to win. Tickets are available through Friday from the school office by calling 756-5147 or at Krekeler Jewelers.

Krekeler Jewelers Shopping Spree prizes can be used toward the purchase of diamonds, Pandora Jewelry, Seiko Watches or anything else from the wide variety of items.

Last year’s auction raised around $115,000 after expenses. The money raised last year was also used to update their security system and provide new technology in the building.

Dickinson said every year the money raised goes toward their specialty teachers such as P.E., music, reading specialists, etc.
