Ste. Genevieve Civil War Camp at Moses Austin Park this weekend

Ste. Genevieve – The Lt. Col. J. Felix St. James Camp will present the Ste. Genevieve Civil War Camp this weekend at Moses Austin Park.

The event will include a re-enactment of an August 14, 1861 bank raid at 1 p.m. Saturday. During the raid, Major John McDonald and the Eighth Missouri Infantry arrived by riverboat from Cape Girardeau to take possession of all the funds from Merchant Bank to prevent money from being stolen by Confederate raiders.

The raid will center in the area of Main and Merchant streets. Several streets will be closed from noon to 2 p.m.
