‘Boomers’ concert to feature number twos

“Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Bride,” is not always about weddings.

This year’s 11th annual Baby Boomers concert is about famous number two hits that never made it to the number one spot. The famous songs in this year’s concert are from 1955-1984.

Martha Boren, office manager at the Farmington Civic Center, said tickets go on sale July 1 at 8 a.m. at the Farmington Civic Center.

“We usually have a huge line opening day of ticket sales because this is such a popular concert,” said Boren.

The show is scheduled for Aug. 2 and 3 at the Farmington Centene Center at 7 p.m. each evening. The doors open at 6 p.m. both nights.

“Dr. Kevin White, music director at Mineral Area College, organizes this every year. He does a fabulous job and spends more than 500 hours putting this show together. He coordinates all the musicians and singers and picks out the songs for the show,” said Boren.

“The performers rehearse one night and it’s the Thursday prior to the show. That is the only time they have together. A lot of the performers come back each year,” she added.
