Cal Ripken Americans trounce Aurora
MARIONVILLE, Mo. — Kolten Poorman smacked a home run and went 3-for-4 with five RBI on Thursday night as the Mineral Area Cal Ripken American 70’ all-stars defeated Aurora 14-2 in their state tournament opener.
Noah Jacobsen drove in two runs and Jace Bland finished 2-for-3 to power the victory. Joe Hulsey and Claywell were each 1-for-1.
Ty Simily and Eli Claywell matched Poorman with a scoreless inning as the trio combined for seven strikeouts.
The Americans also received hits from Steven Pursley, Cameron Stevens and Simily, and will face Monett today in the second round.
