UPDATED: Bonne Terre boil water order lifted, Irondale order still in place
NEW INFO: The boil water order for the portion of Bonne Terre has been lifted effective immediately, according to City Administrator Larry Barton.
ORIGINAL STORY: A precautionary boil water order has been issued for the city of Irondale, including every water connection in the system. The order is the result of a fire hydrant being struck. Repairs have been made and results from subsequent water samples are expected early next week.
Additionally, on Tuesday afternoon Bonne Terre city officials issued a “boil water order” for all addresses along the following streets: Raider Road, Benham Street, Cherry Street, Dale Street, Dover Street, Summit Street, Bucheit Street.
As of this morning the boil order remained in effect. A contractor accidentally bored into an eight-inch water main behind Parkland Health Center on Raider Road on Tuesday, according to Bonne Terre City Administrator Larry Barton.
Water samples were taken at three locations on Wednesday and delivered to a laboratory in Poplar Bluff for testing. It was said it would take 24 hours to get the results back from the water samples.
Barton said if the samples came back safe it was hoped the city could lift the boil order by sometime this afternoon.
