Free Tai Chi classes for seniors

Presbyterian Manor, in partnership with RehabCare, Inc, is now offering weekly Tai Chi classes at Farmington Presbyterian Manor in an effort to promote healthy lifestyles and provide great new exercise ideas for residents and area seniors.

The program is led by Rose Wiseman, wellness coordinator for RehabCare.

The Tai Chi classes are held every Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Manor’s Residential Dining Room. Classes are free and open to area seniors.

The low-impact exercise of Tai Chi is a cross between yoga and meditation, and consists of a series of movements and breathing exercises designed to build strength, restore balance and increase flexibility. Other benefits include the relief of the physical effects of stress, reduced blood pressure, and enhanced mental capacity and concentration.
