Gwen Flatt

PARK HILLS — Gwendolyn Sue Flatt of Park Hills, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at her residence at the age of 56 years. She was born January 10, 1957, at Bonne Terre, daughter of the late Marcus William and Mary Lela (Barton) McCarron. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Flatt; two brothers, Michael and Lindell McCarron; and a sister, Norma Stivers.

Gwen worked several years for the Post Office at Irondale, and at several local convenience stores, always in customer service and was known for her ability to connect with people. She was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a very spiritual and devoted Christian. She was a member of Lodge #2583 Mineral Area B.P.O.E. Ladies Auxiliary.

She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her including her husband, Bennett D. Flatt of Park Hills; daughters, Dala Joy (Jason) Billingsley of Marshall, IL., Kerri Ann Flatt of Swansea, IL.; son, Bryan (Amy) Flatt of Park Hills; sisters, Marsha (Ronnie) Storie of Lebanon, and Katy (Jim) Spear of Kokomo, IN.; brother, Bob (Judy) Koch of St. Charles; an aunt and uncle Charles, and Ruth Ann Benoist of Bonne Terre; grandchildren, Emily and Kari Sue Billingsley, Zanney Hanna, and Wade Flatt; mother and father-in-law, Ben and Betty Flatt of St. Ann; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Per Gwen’s request her body was gifted to the MedCure Foundation for the advancement of scientific research. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Preferred Hospice of Missouri. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of the Cozean Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
