FHS student doing his part for breast cancer awareness
One Fredericktown High School student is helping others during Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Junior Andy Davis is a member of the Triple C 4-H club and the club’s service project this year is to raise mums for Breast Cancer Awareness.
“My grandma had cancer and it was sad to lose her and this is a way to honor her memory,” said Davis.
Davis decided to do his part for the group by growing the mums at his family’s farm. The group is collecting money from now until spring for the cost of the mums and then Davis and his family will plant the mums next spring.
“Our group is going to donate the money raised to people in the hospital who have cancer and need help,” said Davis.
Davis said the mums will be for sale next year at the farmers markets.
“We are planning on planting about 100 each of purple and orange mums,” said Davis.
If anyone would like to make a donation for the mums contact 573-561-4102.
