Lady Warriors topple AV in three games

IRONTON — Mackenzie Wipfler knocked down 19 kills, Courtney Huck landed 12 and both players shared six blocks as Valle Catholic outlasted host Arcadia Valley 25-18, 22-25, 25-21 in volleyball action Thursday night.

Megan Abt served 11 points with two big aces, and Cassandra Moulton had 15 assists plus 11 digs as Valle Catholic (17-6-1) netted its fifth consecutive victory.

Nicole Kertz matched a team high with 11 digs and received 14 serves for the Lady Warriors. Teammate Sydnie Weiler added 12 assists and seven digs, while Josie Meyer assisted on four blocks.

Kristen Williams was an impressive attacker in defeat with 24 kills, and tied Katelynn Lamb with 11 digs apiece as four Lady Tigers reached double digits along the back row.

Megan Williams compiled 10 kills, 13 assists and nine digs for Arcadia Valley (15-7-3). Kaitlin Cox and Jerrika Brockes each had 10 digs.

Both teams are now 2-1 in the MAAA Small-School Division.
