Knightettes claim share of Large-School crown
FREDERICKTOWN — With a 25-6, 25-18 conference win over the Fredericktown Lady Cats on Thursday, the Farmington Knightettes improved their conference record to 4-1 to pull even with the Central Lady Rebels for half of the MAAA Large-School Conference championship as the regular conference season concluded.
“Everybody got to play tonight,” stated Farmington Coach Julie Ward after the match. “We sort of backed in to the co-championship with Central.” (Central, which had beaten Farmington earlier in the season, suffered their only loss in their conference finale on Wednesday to Ste. Genevieve.)
Maddie Bradley led the Knightettes at the net with nine kills. Sydney Savage made good on five kills and Madison Brown had four kills to go along with eight digs in the two-game match.
Whitney Johnson led the team in digs with 10, and Kourtney Knox and J.V. recruit Kasia Kaiser both had four. Knox supplied Farmington’s firepower with 26 assists in the match, and Hannah Marler served two aces.
Farmington (13-8) will play next along with the other 11 MAAA teams on Monday in the conference tournament.
