Ironton woman killed in crash

An Ironton woman was killed in a crash Thursday evening on Highway 221 near the entrance to Lake Hanna.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mary J. Boyer, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene 11:40 p.m. by the St. Francois County coroner.

Troopers report the accident happened at 10:15 p.m. when a northbound 2000 Ford Mustang driven by Boyer traveled into the southbound lane causing her to overcorrect. The car traveled off the roadway, struck an embankment and a tree.

Boyer was wearing a seatbelt according to the report.
