MAC prepares to light up Christmas tree
PARK HILLS – With an eye toward celebrating the coming holidays and offering holiday cheer to the community, Mineral Area College classified staff members are planning the community college’s annual Christmas Celebration from 5 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 3 in the concourse area of the Arts and Sciences Building. It is free, includes refreshments, and is open to the public.
Erin Sites, president of classified staff, said that in addition to the annual tree lighting, holiday music, cookies, cocoa, and children’s visits with Santa, a basket with $400 worth of goodies will be raffled off. Proceeds will go to the family of MAC faculty member Joe Hughey.
“Everyone involved is looking forward to spreading Christmas joy and high spirits to our community this year,” she said. “MAC’s Jazz Band and Choral Choir will be our entertainment for the evening, courtesy of Michael Goldsmith and Harry Cecil, instructors from our talented music department. Mrs. Claus will read ‘The Night Before Christmas,’ and for the grand finale, Santa Claus will make his appearance. Of course, he won’t arrive empty-handed; he’ll certainly have surprises for all of the children.”
