Stolen tractor trailer found without load in Madison County
A loaded tractor-trailer reported stolen from Mineral Point on Tuesday morning was found empty in Madison County hours later.
According to Washington County Sheriff Andy Skiles, a 2006 Peterbilt Tractor and dump trailer was taken from the Coleman Trucking facility at 10350 Whippet Road. The trailer was loaded with 24,000 pounds of scrap metal.
Madison County Sheriff Bobby Spain said the vehicle was located at 12:20 p.m. the same day on Route E parked underneath the U.S. 67 overpass. There was no obvious damage to the truck except that it had been left on and the battery was dead. The dump bed, reportedly full of scrap when the truck was stolen, was completely empty.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating the theft. If you have information please call them at 573-438-5478.
