Ethel Lucille Goggin
PARK HILLS — Ethel Lucille Goggin (nee Hodges), age 89, died at the home of her daughter, Donna Loyd, on November 22, 2013.
Born October 10, 1924, in Elvins, Missouri, to Charles and Ethel Hodges, Lucille attended school at Gumbo and Desloge High from which she graduated in May of 1942. Also in May 1942 she married Donald R. Goggin.
She lived in Flat River/Park Hills most of her life, moving to Bismarck to be near family and then to Terre Du Lac where she and Don lived with Daughter and son-in-law, Jim Loyd.
Lucille was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Park Hills. Later in her life, when able, she attended Providence Baptist Church.
Lucille will be especially remembered for the 30 years of hard work at her dress shop, Lu Don Fashions. Her shop opened its doors in December 1969. She loved her job and until the very end she was able to remember many customers and even what they had purchased. Her motto was “Where Everybody Was Some Body.” She closed up shop in December 1999. It wasn’t an easy decision for her as she so loved what she did. But her health was declining and it was time. After a brief time of trying to be retired she went to work at Penney’s in Farmington. It was there she had a small stroke and shortly another one that put an end to her days in retail clothing.
She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Don Goggin; parents, Charlie and Ethel Hodges; brothers, Maurice Hodges, Hansford Hodges, Paul Hodges, and John Hodges; and a sister, Marion Hutchings.
