The City of Marquand will be lighting up the historical park for Christmas Saturday.

Madison County

Organizer Lethia Homan said there are about 10 to 12 flowerbeds and several businesses, churches and organizations who help decorate the park for Christmas each year and people will begin decorating early in the week especially if they cannot be there on Saturday for the lighting ceremony.

There will be hot cocoa, cookies and Christmas Carols during the ceremony. They will begin lighting up the park around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

“It should be a fun day. We will have people out all day starting around 10 a.m. Saturday and then around dark we will light the decorations up,” said Homan.

Homan said volunteers would be out hanging up wreaths, lights and other decorations around the park. Anyone is welcome to participate.

“They just call and reserve a space and then bring whatever they need to decorate their space,” said Homan.
