Lady Trojans beat Hillsboro with strong first half

HILLSBORO — The Potosi girls basketball team utilized effective pressure to control a majority of the first half, and emerged from Hillsboro with a 61-50 victory on Thursday night.

Sophomore forward Allie Golden scored a game-high 19 points for the Lady Trojans (2-1), who doubled up the host squad 32-16 by halftime.

Jena Cooley finished with 16 points and Macie Knott added 11 as Potosi extended its lead early in the third quarter.

Hillsboro surged to within 47-37 entering the final period, but could not complete a comeback. Lexi Close had 13 points for the Lady Hawks.
