Lady Indians earn second quarter win over Lady Cats
FREDERICKTOWN — The Bismarck Lady Indians defense in the second quarter gained them an 11 point advantage over the Fredericktown Lady Cats, and they held on in the second half of play for a 66-58 win on Monday.
The two teams were locked at 15-15 after quarter one, but Bismarck scored 18 in the second frame while holding the host team to just seven for a 33-22 lead. Increasing their lead to 15 going into the fourth quarter, the Lady Indians were able to weather the Lady Cats comeback attempt by scoring all of their quarter’s points at the line, making 12-14.
Darcy Latham led Bismarck’s scorers with 19 points. Jessica Sago was next with 14, Jenna McGraw scored 11 and Alyssa Sago and Kallie Pearl finished with eight points each.
Anna Philips led the Lady Cats with 16 points, Raylyn Dodd scored 15, Ellie Jensen finished with 11 and Lexi Amelunke chipped in another eight.
Bismarck (3-0) will next play at Central on Thursday, and Fredericktown (1-3) will be at home tonight against South Iron.
