Filing opens for April election

Candidates began filing at 8 a.m., Tuesday for open seats in the April 8, 2014 election. Filing will close at 5 p.m. Jan. 21.

The Fredericktown R-1 School District has three open seats in the April election. As of Tuesday, incumbent Patrick Martin signed up for re-election.

Marquand-Zion R-VI School District also has three seats up for election. Incumbent Kathy Mills is running for re-election.

The City of Fredericktown has several openings on the April ballot. As of Tuesday morning incumbent Kelly Korokis signed up for re-election as mayor and incumbents Harold Thomas, Ward I Alderman and Jim Miller, Ward III Alderman signed up for re-election. No one has filed yet for City Collector or Ward II Alderman.

The Madison County Ambulance District has two-three year seats  open on the April 8 ballot. As of Tuesday morning Phyllis McDowell signed up for re-election in District 5.

As of press time, no one has filed for the open seat at the Madison Medical Center Board of Trustees, which is a five-year term.

Attempts to contact Marquand City Hall were unsuccessful. The openings on the April ballot are Alderman in Wards I and II and Mayor. The Alderman vacancies are both for two-year terms and the Mayoral election is for a one-year term.
