Miller twirls no-hitter as MAC posts two shutout wins
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — Sophomore right-hander Jalen Miller threw his first career no-hitter and struck out 11 batters on Tuesday as the Mineral Area baseball team capped a road doubleheader sweep.
Miller allowed just two walks through seven innings of an 8-0 victory over the Williams Baptist junior varsity in game 2.
Hunter Leeper and Cody Heisserer smacked solo home runs while Connor Davault and Logan Bradley each had a 2-run double for the Cardinals (5-3).
Cory Lubinski singled twice, Charlie Palmer collected two RBI and Cole Kaiser added a double with two runs scored.
The opening contest ended in a 13-0 shutout Mineral Area behind five solid innings from sophomore Colby Brown.
Dakota Glore finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and four runs scored while Lubinski compiled three RBI with a double among four hits.
Heisserer added three more hits, Jake Cowan singled twice and Palmer scored three runs.
Brown allowed one hit and one walk while fanning four. Andrew Suiter and Kyle Porter tossed scoreless frames in relief.
Mineral Area will play four games this weekend in Goodman, Miss.
