Two injured in early-morning crash

A stretch of icy road caused two local drivers to hit head-on early Wednesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck happened on State Highway 221 near Henson Road west of Doe Run at about 5:55 a.m. Wednesday.

The report shows Brian M. Davidson, 36, of Bismarck, was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus northbound when his car skidded on a patch of ice. He crossed the road into the path of a 1999 Ford van being driven southbound by Ricky A. Hampton, 55, of Farmington.

Both drivers were listed as suffering minor injuries in the crash, and both were transported by ambulance to Parkland South in Farmington.

Traffic was slowed and stopped at times for nearly an hour as emergency workers removed the patients and vehicles from the scene, and highway department workers treated the road to allow safe passage.
