A different perspective
How often have we heard wives say that their husbands never listen to them. They complain that when they try to talk with them, their husbands either respond with “okay” or “whatever you say.” Do they not care? Are they busy with something else? Or, is it they are not really interested?
When our children are small, we teach them to listen to our instructions and words of advice. If they don’t listen, it is necessary for us to discipline them. We would be unfaithful parents if we allowed them to do whatever they wanted. As a result, they would end up paying the consequences for not paying attention.
In this technological age of Ipads, cell phones, video games, and internet, most everyone’s attention is divided. You’ve heard the phrase “multi-tasking;” well it has taken on an entirely new concept these days! Too much of our time is totally divided and we tend not to give our undivided attention to listening to anything or anyone.
Thankfully, our Heavenly Father is not like that. God says He is standing at our hearts door, knocking, waiting to be asked inside. With all the noises of this world outside, can we even hear His still small voice? He is not just seeking to save us, but to help us with everything we are facing in life. With all the distractions around us, it is imperative that we become still and attentive and listen for His words of wisdom and advice. He always has the right answers.
