Beverly Jean Hitchcock

DESLOGE — Beverly Hitchcock, 81, of Desloge, passed away April 7, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born January 29, 1933, at home, in Canton, Illinois, to the late Lester and Edith (Ford) Slater. Beverly was the past owner/operator of Smoke House BBQ and Hitchcock Discount Boots; she attended to secretarial duties with her husband at Hitchcock Salvage Inc. In addition to all her positions, Beverly managed to raise 9 kids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Patrick; two brothers, Merlin and Melvin Slater; two sisters, Marlena Stockman and Sally Smith.

Beverly is survived by her husband, of 65 years, Richard Hitchcock; children, Mike (Carolyn) Hitchcock of Lewistown, Ill., Dick (Debbie) Hitchcock of Park Hills, Sue (Alan) Ford of Lewistown, John (Donna) Hitchcock of Park Hills, Sarah Hitchcock of the home, Jeff (Dana) Hitchcock of Bryant, IL, Peggy Thrasher of Park Hills, Jerry (Tina) Hitchcock of Farmington, and Patty (Van) Schultz of Park Hills; 21 grandkids; 32 great-grandkids; two great-great-grandkids; siblings, Betty (Kenneth) Ferris of Canton, Jerry (Bee) Slater of Scottsboro, Ore., and Sandy (John) Evans of Joliet, Ill..

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, April 10, 2014, from 12 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, Illinois, Friday, April 11, 2014, at 2 p.m.
