County OKs warning siren in Zell
The Ste. Genevieve County Commission has decided to install an emergency warning siren in Zell at the request of the Zell Volunteer Fire Department, which recently submitted a formal request to have a siren put in.
Presiding Commissioner Garry Nelson instructed a representative of Outdoor Warning Consulting LLC of Jefferson City via telephone at last Thursday’s County Commission meeting to put in an order for a siren.
The charge for the siren is $21,777.
Holcim (U.S.) infrastructure funds will be used to cover the expense.
Bids were not solicited for the purchase because Outdoor Warning Consulting is the only company officials are aware of that provides the sirens, Nelson said.
It is expected to take eight weeks to manufacture the device, according to Outdoor Warning Consulting.
The Zell Volunteer Fire Department will be put in charge of looking for a location for the siren, Nelson said.
