School boards to meet this evening

The leadership of two area public schools will meet in regular session this evening.

North County Board Of Education

The North County Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m. in the administration building located at 300 Berry Road in Bonne Terre.

Listed under actions items are consideration of MRTA dues paid for an 18-month membership for new retirees, amending the Stipendiary Index to be calculated from previous years base, adjustment to the cap for district paid health insurance, approval of North County R-1 School District participation in St. Francois County Assessor’s Office Assessment appeal vs. Missouri Natural Gas, and consideration of a lawn mowing contract change.

In “informational items” there should be reports from the associate superintendent, assistant superintendent, the superintendent, director of Buildings and Grounds, board member’s and future agenda items.

Items on the agenda under “communications” include cards and letters and recognition of students and staff.

This meeting is open to the public.

Following adjournment from the open session will move to a closed session to discuss personnel matters and student matters.

Farmington Board of Education

The Farmington Board of Education will hold a regularly scheduled meeting at 5 p.m.

On the board’s agenda will be the discussion and the approval of the purchase of Chromebooks from SomethingCool.com. This purchase will provide the 5th-12th classrooms with 1,400 Chromebooks. This is a major portion of the Increased Instructional Technology outlined in the bond issue approved by voters earlier this year.

The board will also hear from Hoener Associates on a recommendation for the high school roof upgrade package to be awarded to Shay Roofing for a total bid proposal of $1,024,000 which was outlined in the bond issue as well.

The third item of note on the board’s agenda is the consideration of a partnership with MERS/Goodwill and the Southeast Missouri Workforce Investment Board to employee two to three youths with summer positions.

The board will meet at the school district’s administration building at 1022 Ste. Genevieve Ave. in Farmington.
