Edward ‘Mutt’ Martin, Sr.

BONNE TERRE — Edward Joseph “Mutt” Martin, Sr., 82, of Bonne Terre passed away May 22, 2014, at his residence with his family at his side. He was born February 24, 1932, in Bonne Terre. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving three Bronze Stars. He retired from General Motors and was a member of the U.A.W. Local 2250 and a charter member of V.F.W. Post 6883.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Jesse Mae (Cook) Martin; son, Gary Wayne Miller; six brothers, Pete Martin, Rollie “Lefty” Conway, Harrison Conway, John Conway, Tony Conway and Pee Wee Conway; first wife, Christola Martin Lauck.

Mutt is survived by his wife, Gladys (Hunter) Martin; nine children, Debbie “Kelly” Cate (Don Ames), Karen Brewer, Bobby Martin, Kimberly (Randy) Mazzola, Paul (Denita) King, Ray (Bobbi) King, Michele Copeland (Bubby Moss), Eddie Martin, Jr., Christina (Joey) Reed; twenty-five grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Visitation will be Monday, May 26, 2014, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Chapel in Bonne Terre with Rev. John Kee officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at BonneTerreCemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
