McKinney continues superb golf play, wins amateur qualifier

O’FALLON – Just five days after placing second in the NJCAA National Championships for Mineral Area College, Tanner McKinney notched another milestone in his golfing career on Wednesday by winning the Missouri Amateur Qualifier played at the Falls Golf Course in O’Fallon, Missouri.

McKinney finished off the 18-hole, par 71 course with a four-under 67 to best a field of 117 golfers, qualifying him for the Missouri Amateur Championship Tournament to be held on June 24-29 at the Norwood Country Club in St. Louis.

McKinney, who had already scored four birdies on the course, won first place on the final hole as he recorded an eagle 3 on the par 5, 511-yard, No. 18 to edge out Michael Wootten of Weldon Springs and Dan Emrick of St. Peters, both at three-under.
