Local 14U team wins BPA Missouri State Championship

FLORISSANT – A Mineral Area 14U baseball team coached by Rusty Sullens team won the Baseball Players Association (BPA) Missouri State Championship this past weekend. The team beat the South Central Illinois Bulldogs in the Championship game 16-5.

Cody Boylan was the winning pitcher on record with three innings pitched. He gave up one earned run, with five strikeouts and one walk.

The 14U team scored 5 runs in the first, with Kenny Mahurin hitting a three-run home run to highlight the inning.

Mahurin was 4-4 in the game with a walk, and a home run and 5 RBI’s. Jake Sullens was 4-5 with four singles and five RBI’s, and Matt McElrath was 3-4, with three singles and two RBI’s.
