MADISON COUNTY COMMISSION MINUTES

June 30, 2014, the Madison County Commission met with the following members present: Presiding Commissioner Bob Mooney, First District Commissioner Tom Stephens, and Second District Commissioner Jim Thompson. Wayne Spain, Donnie Owens and Steve Crowe attended the meeting.

ROAD AND BRIDGE DEPARTMENT

Road and Bridge Supervisor Gregg Pruett said Lead Belt Material is blacktopping CR 221 today. He said the department is working on an erosion problem near the Castor Bridge on CR 252. The river has changed course over the years and cutting into the county road. Pruett said his department is replacing culverts on CR’s 238 and 310 digging the soft spots out on CR 320.

LIBRARY BOARD APPOINTMENT

The Commission received a request from Ozark Regional Library Director Jerome Housewright to appoint Brenda Laut as a Madison County Library Board member. He said Laut will be replacing Pearl Royer, whose term has expired. Housewright said Laut is a well-respected member of the community and comes well recommended by other members on the library board.

Thompson made a motion, seconded by Stephens to appoint Laut to the Madison County Library Board for a four-year term. The motion carried.

COMMISSIONER REPORTS

Stephens and Thompson looked at several county roads as well as visiting the quarry in Farmington to check on rock prices and quality.

Thompson attended the East Missouri Action Agency meeting last week.

All three Commissioners attended the District Commissioners meeting in Ironton last week. They also looked at the condition of most county roads in the Marquand area.

Mooney participated in a conference call with the Idaho-Panhandle Group concerning lead cleanup issues and Institutional Control Plans. He also attended the Environmental Roundtable at the Madison County Health Department in Fredericktown last week.

The County Clerk said the cooling system should be repaired by mid-week.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

Stephens made a motion, seconded by Thompson to approve accounts payable. The motion carried.

No further business was transacted on Monday, June 30, 2014. Presiding Commissioner Mooney adjourned the meeting at 10:50 a.m.
