Tournament raises $1000 for local tennis teams
The Precision Eye Care Tennis Tournament (PECTT) was held June 19-22 at the North County High School courts, with adult and junior players from Farmington, Bonne Terre, Desloge, Park Hills, Festus, Herculaneum, Cape Girardeau, Ironton, St. Louis, Mountain View and even Indiana.
Executive Director Dr. John Fitz provided tournament shirts to all participants as well as awards for each division’s top winners. He donated the $10 entry fees to the Farmington and North County high school tennis programs and presented $500 checks to Farmington Coach Andrew Canter and North County Coach Mary Hoehn.
“The tournament was very exciting because the local tennis community has expanded over the last year,” Fitz said. “It’s a lot of fun watching the players and having everyone connect, especially since we had such a high level of play throughout the tournament. When the new courts in Farmington are completed, I expect that the tennis community will grow even more, and we hope that the Precision Eye Care Tournament will become one of several hosted in Farmington.”
The PECTT is slated for the first weekend following Father’s Day each year, which means that the 2015 tournament will be held June 25-28.
