City officials to meet tonight
City officials of two communities in the county will be holding sessions this evening.
FARMINGTON
A public hearing seeking the community’s input on fluoridation of the water system is scheduled when the Farmington City Council meets at 6:30 p.m.
The council is looking to obtain public opinion regarding the city’s current policy of adding fluoride to its drinking water. Additionally, there are six items listed on the agenda for council action of first and second readings.
Among those items is an ordinance authorizing the city to enter into a contract with Brockmiller Construction, Inc. for the new library.
On July 22, bids were opened for the project. Bids were received from Brockmiller Construction, ICS Construction and Zoellner Construction.
The lowest bid was from Brockmiller, in the amount of $4.8 million. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m Tuesday at the future site of the new facility, located at the corner of Liberty and A Streets.
Two agenda items are for contracts with D&S Fence Co., Inc. for tennis court fence and Musco Sports Lighting, LLC for tennis court lights for the new courts located near Engler Park.
In addition, an ordinance for the purchase of real estate – plus two separate lease agreements – are listed on the agenda.
The council will also hear a resolution authorizing City Administrator Greg Beavers and Finance Director Michelle Daniels to invest certain city funds in Certificates of Deposit.
Reports will also be heard from the committees.
The meeting is open to the public.
LEADWOOD
The City of Leadwood will hold their monthly Board of Alderperson meetingtonight at 6 p.m. at the city’s firehouse.
According to the agenda, the board will be hearing from speakers Shelby Lawson and Sara Roney.
The board will also discuss setting a date for a public meeting with the water and sewer department.
An ordinance for purchasing police vehicles will also be reviewed. Board members will look at current business licenses and decided whether or not to renew them.
Other reports will come from the water and sewer departments. The board will review the best place to locate all easements for lift stations.
Review of the Fall Festival later this year will also be discussed.
