A New Experience

I just had one of the most amazing experiences of my life. My sister-in-law, brother-in-law, a nephew and I were all able to participate in an inspirational cruise, sponsored by Dr. Charles Stanley. He is the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA, and is also a noted author and accomplished photographer. We flew from St. Louis to Seattle, then boarded our cruise ship to begin our journey to Alaska. This was the first cruise for all of us, so we were like ‘ducks out of water’ as far as knowing what to do or where to go! But the staff was extremely courteous, polite, and accommodating, and after the first day or two, we pretty well knew our way around.

The Lord was truly gracious to us in allowing us sunshine and gorgeous weather our entire trip. Everywhere we went, it was beautiful. The scenery was absolutely like the pictures on television or in magazines, and it made you appreciate what God has created for all of us to enjoy! We were blessed to see orcas, eagles, otters, dolphins, glaciers, mountains, and whales. Our excursion to watch the whales was most incredible. We experienced a once in a lifetime show by the humpback whales that the National Geographic photographers hope to capture, but rarely get to see.

Besides all the extras of the scenery, the food was ‘over the top’ and we all ate way too much! Most refreshing and uplifting were the musicians, singers, speakers, and entire worship staff. They provided all of us with exactly what we needed spiritually. Their services challenged each of us to be what God wanted us to be and encouraged everyone to never give up or quit. There were over 1700 of us on board the ship, and I dare say, everyone was inspired. This was ‘a new experience’ for me and one that I will never forget.
