High school football tries to beat heat with start delay
Most area high school fans will have to wait another hour to see their local team in action for their opening football games tonight. Due to the heat advisory across the state, several schools have delayed the 7 p.m. start of their games an extra hour to 8 p.m. to hopefully have some relief from the afternoon’s heat index which is predicted to be in the low 100’s.
Only Potosi is still planning on 7 p.m. for their Saturday game when they will host Carnahan.
Among the area football teams, the following schools have pushed tonight’s football games back to an 8 p.m. start.
Central hosting Sullivan.
North County hosting Roosevelt.
Farmington hosting Ladue.
Ste. Genevieve hosting Dexter.
Valle Catholic hosting St. Vincent.
Fredericktown playing at Kennett.
