Education for farm women offered

The Iron County Economic Partnership Jump Start Program and University of Missouri Extension have partnered together to offer “Annie’s Project”—Education for Farm Women, one of three programs that will be taught in the county within the next year. Annie’s Project has helped over 10,000 farm and ranch women from 35 states develop their management and decision-making skills in the complex, dynamic world of agriculture. Annie’s Project has something to offer for every farm woman, regardless of experience level, farm type or size.

Some of the topics covered in class include financial documentation and analysis, estate planning, property titles, insurances, human resources, business plans, farm legal agreements and much more! Many past participants have reported that the most valuable part of the program is networking with other farm women.

Annie’s Project—Education for Farm Women is a six-session program held on consecutive Thursday evenings on September 4, 11, 18, 25, October 2 and 9 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. each evening. It will be held at the Iron County Health Department located at 606 West Russell Street in Ironton.

Registration is $75 and participants will receive a black zip-binder notebook, calculator, thumb drive, the 18 hour workshop and refreshments. At the end of the program, participants will have completed business plans. Each of the top three business plans will be awarded $500 seed money, which can used for capital purchases, marketing expenses, professional services and more. Seed money awards are funded by the Iron County Economic Partnership.
