Old Miners’ Day to take place Oct. 3-5

The 28th Annual Old Miners’ Day festival will be held in Viburnum on Oct. 3, 4 and 5. The festival honors generations of miners who established Missouri’s rich mining history and brought economic vitality to the region.

Many activities will be available including a public showing of a new historical mine video and historical mine photos, and a tour of The Doe Run Company’s underground lead mining operations.

On Saturday festival goers can witness a unique RAM 1500 HFE truck that harnesses natural gas hybrid-electric start-stop (NGHV) technology. The truck will be in the Saturday parade and on display throughout the day.

Doe Run operates the world’s second-largest lead mining district in Missouri’s Viburnum Trend.

From 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday the public showing of the videos and photos and the tours will take place for guests 12 and older.

Other activities include a parade, car show, craft booths, childrens games, tractor pull, gold panning contests and more.
