Parkland PRC’s ‘Walk For Life’ takes place Saturday
PARK HILLS – Parkland Pregnancy Resource Center’s annual “Walk For Life” fundraiser takes place Saturday with registration held from 8 to 8:45 a.m. and the walk following at 9 a.m.
Registration will be held at 815 E. Main St. in Park Hills.
This year’s theme is “Heroes Unite” and participants are welcome to dress up as their favorite superhero.
The walking route starts at the entrance of Columbia Park in Park Hills instead of at the resource center as in years past. Participants will walk twice around the park’s walking trail. They are welcome to walk, run, push a stroller or wheelchair, pull a wagon or walk a dog. Note that all pets must be leashed.
“Walk for Life is one of our two major fundraisers each year,” said Becky Laubinger, PRC executive director. “It provides resources so we can do what we do in the community for the rest of the year. Our goal for this year is 500 participants and we hope to raise $25,000. With the way the community has supported us in the past, we believe this goal is absolutely reachable.”
Free services provided by the Parkland PRC include pregnancy testing, first trimester ultrasound, maternity, baby and household items, parenting classes, HOPE classes (Healing Our Past Experiences), CARE adolescent sexual health program, referrals for community services and 24/7 dad classes.
In 2013 the center served 211 new clients, performed 170 pregnancy tests and 52 ultrasounds, and gave away 16,902 items.
Parkland PRC is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. For more information about Parkland PRC or the upcoming walk call 573-431-6001.
