Farmington council holds public hearing, regular session

The leadership of two are communities will meet in regular sessions this evening.

Farmington Council

The Farmington City Council will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers at Long Memorial Hall, located at 110 W. Columbia St.

A public hearing is scheduled on a petition to establish a Community Improvement District titled “Mineral Area Community Improvement District.” The proposed 18.5 acre district includes the Mineral Area shopping center and adjacent outlying lots near Karsch Boulevard.

Ordinances regarding the CID are up for a first reading by title only on the tentative agenda, with action planned at a future session.

Other legislative items include second readings on ordinances regarding amendments to the sewer code, an amended plat request and rezoning for Buckhaven Place subdivision, stop and yield intersection amendments, and a preliminary funding agreement with Farmington ABG, Inc. regarding the possible location for a Rural King store.

A first and second reading for a contract with Townsend Tree Service Company LLC for tree removal is on the tentative agenda as well.

The public hearing and regular session are open to the public.

Leadwood board

The Leadwood Board of Alderpersons will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. at the Leadwood Fire House.

The board will hear from guest speaker Rick Lawson.

City board members will also hear updates regarding the new police car, credit cards for city businesses, parts for the city snow plow and potentially hiring a city engineer.

Discussion regarding the new water and sewer plant and the bond issue will be reviewed.

Consideration of the purchasing of tire chains for the street department and tires for police cars will be given.

The meeting is open to the public.
