Elizabeth ‘June’ Steneck
FARMINGTON — June Steneck, of Farmington, passed away November 30, 2014, at the age of 82 years. She was born June 1, 1932, in Los Angeles, CA, to the late William James and Florence Elizabeth (Patterson) King. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Steneck in 1980; two sons, William Steneck in 1973 and Edward Steneck in 2001; and one brother, William King.
June spent many years in Southern California where she made her home. As a young lady June enjoyed working and volunteering at the USO during the Korean conflict. After a career in medical accounting June retired in 1997 and relocated to Farmington to be near her daughter. Many will remember her as a water aerobics instructor at the Farmington Civic Center where she worked for fifteen years. In her spare time she was an accomplished basket weaver and enjoyed traveling on annual road trips to California and Texas. Her faith was important to her and she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she volunteered regularly with church activities and committees.
Survivors include her three children, Deborah (Mrs. Allen) Cross of Shaver Lake, CA, Donald Steneck and wife, Tami, of Plano, TX, and Josie (Mrs. Jim) Von Till of Farmington; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and many good friends.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 4, 2014, from 5–8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Rickey Valleroy as Celebrant. Interment will be at New Calvary Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be given to Serenity Hospice or Catholic Masses.
