An area man was fatally injured in a one-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon at 12:50 p.m. in Ste. Genevieve County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Tyson Lorance of Ste. Genevieve was traveling eastbound on Route C just west of Sprott Road in his 1999 Ford Escort when he failed to negotiate a curve to the right, traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking an embankment and overturning.

Lorance was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene by Ste. Genevieve EMS at 1:17 p.m. He was transported to Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve.

In an unrelated accident, an Ironton man received minor injuries Saturday evening at 8:50 p.m. after being ejected from his vehicle when it rolled over. The call over the scanner indicated that he was covered in dirt, gravel and debris, but had only sustained some lacerations to the head.

According to the patrol report, 18-year-old Alexander Palmer was traveling northbound on Highway 221 just north of Buck Mountain Road in his 1995 Chevy Cavalier when he traveled off the right side of the road, striking a barbed wire fence and a utility pole. His vehicle overturned several times and in the process he was ejected.
