UPDATED: Rollover accident shuts down Highway 8 near Leadwood

UPDATE: No one was seriously injured in a rollover accident on Highway 8 Thursday afternoon. 

At 2:30 p.m. Thursday a crash occurred involving three vehicles on Highway 8 just outside of Leadwood, which led to the highway being shut down for roughly an hour.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, 66-year-old Clarence Bainter of Bloomsville failed to stop at a stop sign at Route M in his 2014 Ford Fiesta and struck the rear passenger side of a 2002 Ford Ranger driven by 20-year-old Patrick Lewis of Belgrade, who was traveling eastbound on Highway 8. Lewis’ vehicle hit the driver’s side of a 1996 Ford Ranger, driven by 25-year-old William Breihan of Blackwell and then Lewis’ vehicle overturned.

Lewis’ passenger, 18-year-old Ida L. Hartmann, was transported to Parkland Health Center by private conveyance with minor injuries. Everyone was wearing seatbelts except Lewis.

ORIGINAL: Traffic on Highway 8 just outside Leadwood was diverted due to a rollover accident that was reported after 2:30 p.m. 

No one was seriously injured. We will have more information as it becomes available.
