Wife charged in murder of local graduate

The wife of the North County graduate killed last Thursday is being charged with first-degree murder.

According to a press release from Warren County Sheriff Kevin Harrison, Ashley Hunter, 27, of Foristell, has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the shooting death of her husband, Nicholas Hunter. Her bond is set at $1 million cash only.

According to the press release, Ashley Hunter placed a 911 call at 7:52 p.m. Jan. 15 reporting she had been in a physical domestic with her husband and she shot him in the chest. The first deputy arrived 10 minutes later and found the victim on the living room floor with seven gunshot wounds.

The investigation, including physical evidence at the scene, the medical examination of Ashley Hunter at the hospital, and the forensic autopsy of Nicholas Hunter by the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office, provided evidence that contradicted statements made by Ashley Hunter.

Court documents state the couple had been arguing before Ashley Hunter went upstairs and got a handgun. She returned downstairs and shot her husband. No other details of the shooting were available.
