Glenwood R. Barton
WESTLAKE, Ohio – Glenwood R. Barton, 86, of North Olmsted, Ohio, passed into God’s presence on February 1, 2015. He was born July 28, 1928, to Ervin and Grace (Williams) Barton in Flat River, Missouri.
Glenwood served in the U.S. Army in Korea; retired from BP (originally Standard Oil of Ohio) in 1985 after 38 years of service. Glenwood enjoyed teaching and working in the church, helping friends and neighbors, and singing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Shirley and son Jeffrey. Glenwood was the last of his generation in his family, being preceded in death by brothers, Omer, Thomas, Opal, Tillman, Jesse, James, David, Paul, and Lindell, and sisters Freeda, Lorene, Essie, Mamie, Reva, and Nova.
Glenwood is survived by his son Joel and many nieces and nephews who were an important part of his life.
Funeral services will be held at Jenkins Funeral Chapel, 2914 Dover Center Rd. in Westlake, Ohio, on Friday, February 6, at 10:30 a.m. Hours of visitation will be available from 4–8 p.m., Thursday, February 5. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Hospice of the Western Reserve.
